Overview:

The student wishing to take this elective will have the opportunity of observing and becoming involved in the clinical activity of a busy Obstetrician-Gynaecologist working in a busy Red Deer clinic.

Objectives:

Completing this elective should enable you to:

Enhance the student's academic and practical knowledge in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with an emphasis on high risk Obstetrical patients and general Gynaecology office and surgery. The student will observe and participate in the role and function of a consultant specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The student should have a keen interest in O&G.

Additional Notes: Visiting students wishing to request an elective in Obs/Gyn in Red Deer MUST find their own preceptor, specializing in Obstetrics/Gynecology, that is willing to accommodate them. Once a student has found a preceptor who is willing to take them, they must submit the name of the preceptor, their contact and site information along with their application through the AFMC Student Portal. Please note that an elective is not considered officially confirmed until both the preceptor AND the Rural Family Medicine department has confirmed it.

Students will have to find accommodations.
