Pediatric Endocrinology

Diversification = Subspecialty Pediatrics

Location: Stollery Children's Hospital as well as surrounding hospitals (depending on consults)
Duration: A standard elective is two weeks in length. However upon request alternate arrangements may be considered if additional weeks are requested. Minimum 2 weeks Maximum 4 weeks

Overview:

Students will attend and participate in general endocrine and pediatric diabetes clinics as well as additional specialty endocrine clinics. While most of the rotation will be spent in the clinic setting, the student can also be involved with inpatient consultations. 

Objectives:

Completing this elective should enable you to:

  • investigate pediatric endocrine problems.
  • outline management of common endocrine problems in pediatrics, in particular normal growth and development.
Additional Notes:

Electives are subject to availability of preceptors. Previously scheduled students in core rotations will be given priority over electives.

Prerequisite: Completion of Year 3 Core Pediatric Rotation
