Overview:

This elective will provide an opportunity for the student to study basic principles of pediatric hematology in a multi-disciplinary team setting. Both inpatient and outpatient experience is available.

Objectives:
  1. Develop skills in assessment of pediatric patients
  2. Develop skills in pediatric history taking in the subspecialty setting
  3. Become familiar with common pediatric hematology diagnoses
  4. Become familiar with the work-up and investigations for new pediatric hematology patients
  5. Develop skills in managing complex pediatric medical patients
  6. Learn to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting

Suitable for Year 3 students who have completed their core pediatric rotation.

Electives are subject to availability of preceptors. Previously scheduled students in core rotations will be given priority over electives.
