Overview:

Students see consults on the wards alone or with a resident and then review them with the physician on service. They then follow these patients until all I.D. problems have been dealt with. They also attend the weekly out-patient clinic.  They attend weekly academic and clinical rounds.  They attend weekly antimicrobial stewardship rounds.

Objectives:

To learn the basic principles of assessment and management of children with infections.

Additional Notes:

Students must have completed their core eight week Pediatrics rotation (3rd year clerkship) prior to doing an elective ID.
