Overview:

Exposed to a variety of neurological problems of childhood, the student will have the opportunity to perform consultations for children presenting to the Emergency Department and those admitted to inpatient wards with neurological concerns. The student will also participate in the daily follow-up of children followed by the neurology inpatient service.  On electives longer than 2 weeks, students may have the opportunity to attend various subspecialty clinics such as Pediatric Epilepsy, Pediatric Headache, and Pediatric Stroke. There are also weekly Pediatric Neuroscience Rounds and other teaching sessions that students may attend based on their interest.

Objectives:

The student should get a basic understanding of the diagnosis and management of children with neurological problems.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Electives are subject to availability of preceptors. Previously scheduled students in core rotations will be given priority over electives.
