Services Offered: 

POP provides a 12 week structured group psychotherapy program with a focus on exploring dysfunctional personal and relational patterns for patients who want to make positive changes in their lives. The type of psychotherapy is an eclectic object approach utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive, dialectical and experiential approaches in an intensive time limited small group format.

Rotation may include:

  • Observing intake assessments
  • Observation of daily groups
  • Participation in debriefing and case review conferences
  • Discussion and teaching from the multidisciplinary team
Objectives:

Completing this elective should:

Introduce the student to psychodynamic, experiential, and cognitive approaches to group psychotherapy

Help develop clinical skills, judgment and knowledge in assessing patients in a group therapy setting

Working in a multidisciplinary team setting

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Current enrollment in an M.D program at a Canadian University

For students in a 4 year program, completion of at least two years prior to request
