Overview:

Students choosing an elective in Diagnostic Imaging will spend 1-2 weeks in the department. Elective students follow a general rotation during their time here; however, there is some time for tailoring it to their particular needs. This can be discussed with the site administrator after the elective has been confirmed.

Students are encouraged to attend all conferences in Radiology. A textbook and film library is available for student use, as well as a programmed slide/tape series in basic Radiology.

Objectives: To acquaint students with the scope of radiological, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and CT procedures available for the investigation and assessment of patients. The elective will familiarize the student with the process of evaluating imaging studies as they pertain to the management of patients. The program will be of value to students contemplating a career in Family Medicine, Diagnostic Imaging and most other specialties.
Additional Notes: NetCare access required for this elective.
