Governance & Organizational Structure

Information Technology (IT) governance is defined as "the framework for decision rights and accountabilities to encourage desirable behaviour in the use of IT." In October 2009, the Faculty Management Committee approved the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry's first IT governance model which prioritizes the following areas:

  • Business/IT alignment
  • Value delivery and performance measurement
  • Exploitation of business opportunities with IT
  • Responsible usage of IT
  • IT risk management

IT is governed within the Faculty by the following committees:

  • Information Management Steering Committee (IMSC)
  • Information Management Steering Committee (Education) (IMSCE)
  • Information Management Steering Committee (Research) (IMSCR)
  • Information Management Steering Committee (Clinical) (IMSCC)
  • Information Management Steering Committee (Administration) (IMSCA)
