Application Process

The following steps will help guide you through the application process to the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science program in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta.

It is essential that you complete all required steps. Please note: This is a competitive program, and meeting the admission requirements does not guarantee entrance.

Please continue to monitor your BearTracks and @ualberta email account for any correspondence. Communications from the Medical Laboratory Science Office and the Office of the Registrar regarding your application will be directed to your @ualberta email account. 

  • Application Deadlines

    Ensure you meet all admission requirements. Please note that meeting the admission requirements does not guarantee admission.

    MARCH 1
    Deadline to submit your initial application to the Medical Laboratory Science program by completing the University of Alberta Online Undergraduate Application ($75.00 application fee for U of A students or $125.00 application fee for non-U of A applicants).

    APRIL 1

    Students chosen to participate in multiple mini interviews (MMIs) will be contacted via their @ualberta email address to be notified of their interview time. Please check your @ualberta email account regularly.

    Mandatory multiple mini interviews for selected applicants will take place in-person on the University of Alberta campus. 

    JUNE 15
    Deadline to submit your final post-secondary transcript(s) and relevant supporting documentation.

    Deadline to provide results of TOEFL/TSE (Test of English Fluency/Test of Spoken English), if required.

    *Note: Transcripts must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar directly from the issuing institutions. If you are currently a U of A student, the Office of the Registrar will automatically send us your transcripts.

    • Results of the admissions process will communicated to all interviewed applicants via their @ualberta email address.

  • Post-Acceptance Deadlines

    All accepted students will be notified via their @ualberta email account. Students will need to either accept or deny within ten days of receiving their offer. If students accept their offer they will need to submit a non-refundable tuition deposit to confirm their intention to register. 

    Participate in the mandatory two week student orientation.

    Please Note: The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry Orientation week takes place in the last week of August.  Orientation sessions for the program will continue in to the first week of September. Failure to participate in orientation sessions may result in admissions status being revoked.
