Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
This is the organization responsible for national certification of medical laboratory technologists in Canada. MLS students are eligible to write the CSMLS examinations upon completion of Phase 3 of the MLS program.
College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA)
Under Alberta's Health Disciplines Act, this is the registration body for medical laboratory technologists in Alberta. With CMLTA registration, technologists can use the MLT designation that is required for employment in Alberta.
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
MLS graduates are eligible to write the MLS (ASCP) certification examinations of the after receiving the BSc (MLS) degree. Employment in the United States is greatly facilitated with this designation.
American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS)
This is another society that BSc (MLS) graduates can join.
