Alberta Jenkinson and Stephen Buhl Award

Field of Study: Medicine
Value: Variable, with a maximum payment of $4,000

Conditions:

This is annually awarded to medical residents registered within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta. Recipients are chosen based on their leadership abilities, collegiality and contributions made to the well-being of other residents. Recipients must be seen as role models based on their ability to contribute toward a pleasant and productive learning environment.

This award is endowed through the estate of Alberta Jenkinson in the memory of Alberta Jenkinson and Stephen Buhl.

Application/Nomination Procedure:

Nominations are made by residents through their Chief Resident and/or Resident Program Committee representative. Nominations must be accompanied by at least three supporting signatures and a statement explaining why that individual is deemed eligible for the award.

Gordon Denchfield Thompson Scholarship

Field of Study: Postgraduate Medicine
Value: $500
Number: 1

Conditions:

This award is presented annually to a resident with superior academic achievement in an accredited postgraduate medical education program at the University of Alberta. Recipients are selected based on academic standing and personal commitment to community service.

This award is endowed by the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

Application/Nomination Procedure:

Submit an application to the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Chung Pak-Sek Award

Field of Study: Chinese Herbal Medicine
Value: $800
Number: 1

Conditions:

This bursary is awarded annually to an undergraduate or postgraduate student who is conducting research related to Chinese Traditional Medicine. This bursary is open to part- and full-time students. The recipient is chosen based on satisfactory academic standing and financial need.

This award is endowed by family in memory of Dr. and Mrs. Pak-Sek.

The Indigenous Health Initiatives Program was founded in 1988 by the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta to encourage a greater number of First Nations, Inuit and Metis students gain access to, and graduate from, all faculty of medicine and dentistry programs.
