The Office of Advocacy & Wellbeing is hosting two Peer Support Zoom Meetings on May 13 and May 21, 2020 from 4-5 pm. This open forum is intended to facilitate discussion around the uncertainty experienced by research faculty and educators in the FOMD during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this private safe-space meeting place, participants will have the opportunity to debrief and gain insights from each other as we all navigate the uncertainties around the academic calendar, supervising students, running labs, online teaching and our own personal wellness. All are welcome. To register, please click May 13 or May 21 and private meeting details will follow. For questions regarding these events please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Office of Advocacy & Wellbeing in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta looks after issues pertaining to the health and well-being of learners & faculty. The office also advocates on their behalf.
Learner & faculty health and well-being include all areas related to both physical and mental health. We provide counselling on academic and personal matters. We also provide advice and help accommodate needs with special circumstances. Our aim is to ensure that undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate learners & faculty are not distracted by health matters and are able to perform to the best of their abilities.
As advocates for learners, we ensure their best interests are represented in all faculty and university considerations. This includes advocating for students and residents both, and making sure they are represented on all major policy committees.
