CIHR Doctoral Award

2017 Competition Information for FoMD Applicants:

Applications for the CIHR doctoral awards also known as the Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral Awards (CGS-D) are due on October 3, 2017. You can access information regarding eligibility and application instructions here.

The University of Alberta Research Services Office (RSO) has set an internal deadline of September 26, 2017. All signatures on the signature page generated from the Researcher Home Page must be obtained prior to submission to RSO by their deadline. Your application should be submitted to the FoMD Office of Research (2-13 HMRC) by September 22 to obtain a signature from the Faculty. Please note that the student, supervisor, and Department Chair signatures must be obtained before the Faculty Dean signature.

It is required that all CIHR doctoral award applications be reviewed by a faculty member, in addition to the supervisor. Your department may have an internal review process or you may choose to select your own internal reviewer. An internal review process is being offered by the FoMD Office of Research. Note that this is not an editing service. If you select this option, an electronic version of your application must be submitted to Jen Freund (fmdgrd@ualberta.ca) by 4 p.m. on September 11, 2017.

If you choose not to make use of the Office of Research review process, when you submit your application, please include a note with your application stating that “This application has been reviewed by [insert name of individual or department].” This can be done with a sticky note attached to the application.

Please do not hesitate to contact Jen Freund (fmdgrd@ualberta.ca, 780-492-9721) should you have any questions about the application process.
