Audric Moses
Coordinator, Lipidomics Core Facility

Audric Moses is the Coordinator of the Lipidomics Core Facility. He obtained a BSc with Specialization in Microbiology and a Minor in Immunology with Distinction, from the University of Alberta. He then went on to complete a MSc in Experimental Medicine from the U of A in the lab of Dr. Gordon Francis (Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology). His thesis focused on the oxidation of high density lipoproteins (HDL) and cholesterol movement through the artery wall. He was then recruited by Dr. Dennis Vance (Department of Biochemistry) of the CIHR Group on the Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids (MCBL) as a group Research Assistant performing analytical measurements of lipids and lipoproteins, overseeing all major and minor equipment, and acting as local network administrator. When CIHR discontinued this program, the MCBL spun off the Lipidomics Core Facility and Mr. Moses was hired under Dr. Richard Lehner (Department of Pediatrics) as the sole employee of the facility. This restructuring was made possible by major support from the Women and Children & Health Research Institute (WCHRI).

The Lipidomics Core Facility offers routine analysis of lipids and lipoproteins by HPLC, GC, and FPLC, with ongoing development of orbitrap mass spectrometry services, as well as custom HPLC and GC method development and analysis as needed. The lab is located in the FoMD mass spectrometry hub in the Katz Group Centre. In addition to providing services to researchers in the faculty and at the University of Alberta, the facility regularly analyzes samples from other North American research institutions, and as far away as Austria and Japan. The Lipidomics Core Facility currently receives support from the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
