Thesis title or Research Area

Bruno's research deals with the twenty-firstcentury English-language reception of the Brazilian authors Clarice Lispector, Machado de Assis and Jorge Amado, focusing on North America. His thesis uses contemporary theories of world literature to interpret depictions of these writers in recent critical pieces and cast light on their current position on the world literary stage. It identifies a larger focus on Machado's race and Lispector's Jewish background while comparing their increasing popularity with Amado's history of international success.
