German Courses

German faculty are engaged in research topics as varied as; the best ways to use social media tools in the foreign language classroom, the political significance of families in 1960s German literature, German video mashups, and the alternating use of English and German in social media by German young people.

Our faculty and instructors have the expertise to offer a full range of courses, including language courses from elementary to advanced, courses in translation both from and to German, courses in literature and culture, and courses in applied linguistics. There are very few German programs in North America that can claim this. We offer a large array of study abroad programs; so many that there's one to suit every preference and every budget. This is a crucial supplement to the excellent courses you can take in Edmonton, since you have a chance to practice German in your daily life as well and learn more about the culture of the German-speaking countries at the same time. Study abroad changes your life--embrace it!

General Undergraduate questions can be directed to mlcsug@ualberta.ca or Dr. Claudia Kost (ckost@ualberta.ca) (German - Academic Advisor)
