W.G. Hardy Collection of Ancient Near Eastern and Classical Antiquities

A glass display shelf displaying small clay dishes, amphorae vases, and small glass drinking vessels.

A red-brown, two-handled vessel sits nestled between foam pieces, surrounded by other small fragmented vessels.

The W.G. Hardy Collection of Ancient Near Eastern and Classical Antiquities in the Department of History and Classics contains important ancient Greek, Roman and Near Eastern objects, including coins, sculpture, pottery, and glass. The collection provides insights into the daily life and customs of the people of these ancient civilizations, and it is a valuable resource for Classics courses at the University of Alberta. Unique in Western Canada, it also serves as a window into some of the archaeological research by members of the Department of History and Classics.
