General Rental Information

Available for concerts, meetings, weddings and events, renting our venues is a great way to support the maintenance and improvement of our facilities and programs. Rental rates and information are available to groups, organizations or individuals interested in renting our facilities.

Most rooms are located in the Fine Arts Building, located at the corner of 112 Street and 89 Avenue on the U of A campus. Parking is available one block south in the Timms Centre, and one block north in Lot U / N at 111 Street and 90 Avenue. Convocation Hall and the Arts Foyer are located in the Old Arts Building.

Availability, Staffing & Fees

The Department of Music operates a full concert and class schedule during the Fall and Winter terms; as such, our spaces are not usually available for public use at that time. Because we rely on the funds generated by renting our facilities to maintain and improve our equipment, we are unable to offer free use of our facilities, even for charitable or non-profit organizations.

House Managers are required to monitor the use of the facility and facilitate access to equipment. Clients must provide their own labour to move stage equipment, dress the stage and clean up at the conclusion of their rental time. Because the University does not provide cleaning services on weekends, additional cleaning charges may be levied for bookings on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. For relevant events, alcohol license and U of A permit applications must be filed.

Payment in full or a non-refundable deposit of $200 (per day or per performance, depending on the nature of the event) is required to confirm a booking; full payment is required 15 days before the event.
