Sharmila Mathur and her Students from the Indian Music Academy Perform in Churchill Square

Participating in Churchill Square's Live at Lunch Initiative, the Indian Music Academy presented a delightful lunchtime show

Kimberly Bricker - 10 June 2017

On June 1st, the Indian Music Academy, along with their teachers took part in Live at Lunch in Churchill Square. Among the teachers was Sharmila Mathur, an instructor of Indian Music here at the U of A.

Despite the intense heat and the construction behind them, these performers were able to captivate the audience with their beautiful performances. Hearing these unique songs was a wonderful experience, but also impressive. Some of those instruments looked fairly complicated to play (especially the sitar) and these musicians played fantastically!

With a great variety of vocal and instrumental pieces, this little lunchtime concert provided a little bit for everyone.
