Graduate Auditions

Please fill out the Audition Application Form and submit to the Department as soon as possible and certainly no later than December 1. Please note the audition dates below cannot be re-scheduled.

If you are sending a recorded portfolio in lieu of an in-person audition, please also submit the audition form described above by December 1, indicating that you will be submitting a recorded audition. Applicants to the MMus or DMus in composition must submit an electronic portfolio with at least three works, including relevant scores in PDF format, as well as sound files and any other related media files. Links to audio/video streaming sites are acceptable. This electronic portfolio should be emailed to musicgs@ualberta.ca must be received no later than January 1, 2019.  

Auditions for graduate studies commencing September 2019 will be held on the following dates:

Keyboard (MMus/DMus)

Strings (MMus/DMus)
Date: Saturday January 11, 2020
Time: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Location: 2-7 Fine Arts Building (FAB)


Voice (MMus/DMus)
Date: Friday January 17, 2020
Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: 2-7 Fine Arts Building (FAB)
Voice auditions are to be performed from memory.


Wind and Percussion (MMus/DMus)
Date:  Friday January 17, 2020
Time:  10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: 3-46 Fine Arts Building (FAB)


Wind Band Conducting (MMus)
Date:  Thursday January 16, 2020
Time: 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Interviews: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, 3-56 Fine Arts Building (FAB)


Choral Conducting (MMus/DMus)
