Graduate student with Dr. Silvia Pagliardini: in vivo physiology of respiratory networks

The Laboratory of Dr. Silvia Pagliardini in the Department of Physiology is seeking a highly motivated graduate student to work in the field of respiratory neurobiology. The laboratory is focused on understanding the contribution of neuromodulatory mechanisms to ventilation across sleep states in health and sleep disordered breathing models, and the effects of hormones and cannabinoids on respiratory control. Techniques used in our laboratory include in vivo electrophysiology, whole-body plethysmography, optogenetics, immunohistochemistry.

The ideal candidate should have a background in neuroscience, respiratory physiology, or related fields. Prior experience in rodent stereotaxic surgery, optogenetics, EEG and EMG recordings, histology, microscopy, plethysmography would be an asset.

Interested candidated should send their CV, transcripts, and a presentation letter that outlines previous research experience, research interests and career objectives to Dr. Silvia Pagliardini (silviap@ualberta.ca)
