Two-eyed Seeing Research Program Funding

UAlberta North has partnered with the Government of Yukon and Yukon University to support different ways of knowing and doing in a partnered program that aims to uphold Indigenous values and practices in research, training, and knowledge sharing throughout Yukon, as it braids Indigenous and western knowledge through a variety of initiatives. Funding is available for student research internships as well as other research, training, and mobilization projects based in Yukon.

Mitacs Accelerate Research Internships

Yukon Government is providing $30,000/year to UAlberta North to support Research Internships advancing two-eyed seeing under the Mitacs Accelerate Program. Funding provided by Yukon government will be, at minimum, matched by funding from the Mitacs Accelerate program. Under the Mitacs Accelerate program, internships start at four months and can scale up to longer timeframes. Typically, Mitacs and partners each pay 50% of the $15,000 cost of an internship. Yukon government’s contribution will be put towards offsetting the required financial contributions from partners. A minimum of 4 and up to 8 internships annually will be supported with the Yukon government’s contribution and will be located within eligible Yukon-based partner organizations. Partner (host) organizations include eligible for-profit corporations and not-for-profit organization.

Project Funding
Yukon Government is providing $40,000/year to UAlberta North to support research, monitoring, training or knowledge mobilization projects that advance a two-eyed seeing approach in Yukon. Projects will be determined annually and will align with the priorities of UAlberta North, Yukon University and the Yukon Government.
