Kennett Y. Spencer Memorial Scholarship

This Scholarship is administered by the Office of the Registrar

Purpose

This scholarship is endowed through the will of the late Kennett Y Spencer.

    Kennett Y. Spencer Memorial Scholarship: $3,000
  • Eligibility
    The Scholarship is open to residents of northern Alberta (as defined by the Northern Alberta Development Councill), Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Awarded annually to a student registered full-time or part-time in a graduate degree program at the University of Alberta whose focus of enquiry is in the field of northern studies.Map (

  • Application Procedures

    Your application should include the following:

    • One copy of the completed application form (see below)
    • A transcript emailed to northres@ualberta.ca
    • 3 copies of evidence of original research (e.g., course paper, thesis, research paper), and reference letters (minimum of 3) must be received no later than October1st

    To submit your application, fill out the form and follow the instructions outlined in the document.

  • Nomination Procedures
    The recipient will be selected on the basis of superior academic achievement (equivalent to a grade point average of 3.5 or greater on the University of Alberta grading scale). 
  • Adjudication Procedures
    The award is granted to a student at the University of Alberta for high academic attainment and original research carried out in any discipline pertaining to northern studies. UAlberta North will review the letters of application and forward the name of one nominee to the Graduate Scholarship Committee for final approval.
  • Deadline

    Graduate scholarships: October 1st each year.
