The newly founded Canadian Academy of Nursing has announced the appointment of twelve Charter Fellows of the Academy, a group that will act as an advisory committee to the new Academy. We are proud that Dr. Greta Cummings, Dean of the University of Alberta Faculty of Nursing, has been named as a Charter (founding) Fellow to the Academy, the "first pan-Canadian organization dedicated to identifying, educating, supporting, and celebrating nursing leaders across all the regulated categories and all domains of practice."

The academy will be a "comprehensive Canadian hub designed to educate, empower and support nurses to lead, advocate, innovate, and influence public policy that leads to sustainable change." This announcement is especially prescient today, on International Nursing Day 2020, a day that also marks Florence Nightingale's 200th birthday celebration. We are so proud of Dean Cummings' unwavering commitment to the profession of Nursing, and the depth and breadth of her leadership over the course of her career. We are certain she will lead and inspire the Academy as she leads and inspires our Faculty.
