Please welcome Dr. Annick Poirier as the new Interim Zone Section Chief for Urogynecology: effective July 15th, 2019.

Dr. Annick Poirier graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montreal. It was during her internship that she developed an interest in women's health. Thus, she completed a five-year medical residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University. She later settled in Chandler Quebec on the Gaspé Peninsula, where she worked as a general Obstetrics and Gynecology physician for five years. During which time she became concerned about the limited resources available for female pelvic floor disorders. She later accepted a two-year Urogynecology fellowship through the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta in 2014. Upon completion of her fellowship, she joined the Urogynecology Clinic at the Lois Hole hospital for Women.

Dr. Poirier also practices within the Chronic Pain Program at the Lois Hole Hospital, where she is working to enhance the program, and advocate for better patient care. She is also active in research and her most recent focus is on pelvic floor dysfunction knowledge amongst new immigrants to Edmonton. Dr. Poirier is fluent in three languages and has an interest in global health.
