The Scholar Stream represents a commitment by the Department of Occupational Therapy to fostering a research culture, building research capacity, and enriching the MSc (OT) experience for students with outstanding academic records and a want for challenge. The Scholar Stream is for students who (i) have an interest in research, including the application of research to enhance clinical practice; (ii) are interested in contributing to an active research program in fields as diverse as childhood disability, healthy ageing, mental health, human rights, neurophysiology, chronic pain and bariatric care; and/or, (iii) think that they may be interested in pursuing a higher degree (PhD) in the future.
Students admitted to the Scholar Stream complete a research internship; participate in a seminar series exploring cutting edge science and scholarship; and, complete an original study and treatise, under supervision. Each student admitted to the Scholar stream will receive two Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs), to the value of approximately $4000.00.
Students admitted to the Occupational Therapy program will receive a letter about the Scholar Stream and additional application information. If you would like to apply for admission to the MSc (Occupational Therapy) Scholar Stream, you will be required to submit an expression of interest (EOI) in the Fall of your first year. The EOI should include why you are applying for the Scholar Stream, a description of any research experience, and/or expression of research interests. Places in the Scholar Stream are limited: Admission will be based on student GPA, EOI and follow-up interview.
