Congratulations Dr. Brock Debenham

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brock Debenham as assistant dean of academic affairs in the MD program for a three-year term, which commenced on Jan. 1, 2021.

Dr. Debenham is a radiation oncologist and associate professor in the Department of Oncology. He completed his residency training at the University of Alberta in 2012, and has been working at the Cross Cancer Institute since 2013.

His recent roles within the faculty include program director for the radiation oncology residency program, radiation oncology clinical educator for the RADTH undergraduate degree program, and course coordinator for Med 531.  

In the role of assistant dean of academic affairs, Dr. Debenham will be responsible for establishing and sustaining a supportive and high-quality academic environment for learners in the MD program. He will also oversee adherence to standards of academic standing, work to enable systems to support student well-being, facilitate academic counselling, and provide remediation. The assistant dean also serves as the academic advocate for MD students and acts as a liaison for the students with the associate dean of the MD Program.

The Faculty thanks Dr. Tammy McNab, who served in this role until March 2020, and Dr. Rebecca Mitchell, director of learning support, for her assistance to the associate deans of the MD Program during the interim period. The Faculty also thanks the search and selection committee who helped make this appointment possible.
