Permit Cancellations

To cancel your parking permit before its expiry date (for example, if your employment at UAlberta is terminated), log into your parking account. If you don’t cancel your permit and access card, you will continue to be charged for parking. If your permit or access card has expired, you do not need to return it.

Your permit will be cancelled as of the day you request a cancellation online. Parking Services will then issue you a receipt, which we will mail to the most current address on your account.

If you haven’t received your receipt in the mail within a week, contact Parking Services.

Refunds

If you cancel your parking permit on or before the first day of the month, you will receive a refund. You will be refunded your monthly permit cost minus the daily maximum visitor rate for each remaining business day in the month (up to your permit’s full monthly cost). You will receive a full refund for any additional prepaid months on your account.

Suspend Your Permit

If you will be on an approved leave from the university (sabbatical, maternity, medical, etc.), Parking Services will suspend your parking during your leave. We will hold a spot in your parking location for your return. Only approved leaves qualify for a suspension; absence from the university for other reasons (such as time off for vacation) do not apply.

Return your permit to Parking Services to suspend your parking. If applicable, we will issue you a refund once we receive your permit.

Permit Renewal

UAlberta’s annual parking permits run from April 1 (or from your time of purchase) to March 31. Parking Services begins processing annual parking renewals each February. To guarantee your parking spot, you must renew your permit by March 10.
