Our department has approximately 30 clinician and PhD scientists with very active research programs. We recently established a graduate program that has over 40 graduate students and places us amongst the top universities in North America.
One of our affiliated units is the Women and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI). In 2006, this institute was funded by the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation with a mandate to support groundbreaking multi and trans-disciplinary research that improves health outcomes for women and children. The partnership between the institute and our department strengthens our ongoing research efforts, and provides tremendous opportunities for collaboration across the faculties within the University of Alberta.
