Preceptor Workshops

Whether you are new to precepting or ready to take your precepting to the next level; our workshops are designed to benefit everyone. If you have already committed to precepting in the upcoming months, we strongly encourage you to attend a live workshop.

Please note that the retired AHS preceptor workshop is considered equivalent to the Level I workshop or UBC E-Tips. Based on your own learning needs, you are welcome to attend the Level I workshop as a refresher.

The Faculty offers the following workshops to support you in your precepting role

Preceptor Workshop Level I: Setting You and Your Student Up for Success

This 3 hour, highly interactive workshop will outline preparing for your student, effective feedback, and preceptor roles and responsibilities using case-based small group discussions. We will also explore strategies for handling a challenging or struggling student.

Preceptor Workshop Level II: Precepting Your Student: Tailoring Supervision and Assessment

The learning goals for this 3 hour interactive workshop are to ensure pharmacists are:

  • Familiar with the types and levels of supervision
  • Able to provide feedback using the Advocacy Inquiry method
  • Able to assess the student’s Patient Care Process and care plans
  • Able to complete a Student Performance Assessment

This workshop is recommended for all preceptors that have completed the foundational activities (Level I Preceptor Workshop and/or UBC E-Tips module and/or AHS Preceptor Workshop and Precepting the Patient Care Process Online modules). 1-2 Hours of pre-reading will be required for the workshop. The Level II workshop builds on the topics that are covered in the pre-reading material which will be provided upon registration.

Registration is Open for all 2017 Workshops.
