    • PhD: Normally a minimum of *12 (for example, for *3 graduate-level courses) is required.
  • For students admitted in September 2016 or later, the required number of graduate level (500 or higher) courses are as follows:
    • MSc: A minimum of *6 (for example, two *3 graduate-level courses) is required.  Students may be required to take additional courses depending on the area of specialization, their undergraduate background, and recommendations of the supervisor or supervisory committee.
    • PhD: Normally a minimum of *12 (for example, four *3 graduate-level courses) is required.  If a previous graduate degree is held, the minimum course requirement may be reduced to *6 (for example, two *3 graduate-level courses) on approval of the Graduate Studies Committee.  Approval will depend on a written recommendation from the supervisor and supervisory committee.  This recommendation must include a brief description of the student's relevant academic background and justification for the reduction.
