PHIL 101: Introduction to Philosophy: Values and Society
Instructor: Taro Okamura

This course is an introduction to philosophy and deals specifically with the questions of what constitutes a good life and a good society. In particular, you are asked to consider these questions by interacting with the writings of classical philosophers from ancient Greek to the present. The questions include: Should we pursue pleasure over knowledge to live a good life? How do we know what is "good"? How should inequality in society be treated? How should society be governed?
