10 September 2013

The Department of Philosophy is pleased to announce that Nancy Nisbet has arrived in the department, where she will be Visiting Professor in Fall 2013 and Winter 2014. Nisbet is Faculty at the Alberta College of Art + Design and a Doctoral Candidate at the European Graduate School. She extends the following message:

"The major chapters of my multidisciplinary professional life include several years of primary molecular genetics research, an active art practice, and more than a decade of post-secondary teaching of contemporary art theory and studio art practice (currently at the Alberta College of Art + Design). What brings me to the Department of Philosophy is a refocus, synthesis and extension of my research interests. Currently a doctoral candidate at the European Graduate School, my research proposal is to increase the resolution of the understanding of the term 'mutation' and to further consider the ontological status of mutation in living beings. It is a great honour to be welcomed as a visiting professor to continue developing my research within the critically supportive community of the department."

Nancy Nisbet has her office in 2-63 Assiniboia Hall and can be contacted at nnisbet@ualberta.ca.
