Research

Dr. DeLorey’s research interests focus on the neural control of the cardiovascular system and rest and in response to acute and chronic exercise in health and disease.

A major component of the research program is investigation of the mechanistic effects of chronic endurance exercise training on sympathetic nervous system mediated control of blood pressure and skeletal muscle blood flow at rest and during exercise. The effects of sex, aging and nutritional interventions on the neural reflex control of the cardiovascular system are also of specific interest. The research program utilizes both human and rodent (in vivo and in vitro) experimental models.
