•    Assistant coach, varsity rugby and head coach, U19 rugby for the Department of Athletics at UVIC, 1979 to 1984
•    After completing doctoral studies at University of Alberta, joined the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation in 1987
•    Adjunct professor, School of Exercise Science Physical and Health Education, UVIC



Research

•    Thermal, metabolic and cardiopulmonary consequences of protective clothing and equipment ensembles and load carriage in occupational applications such as military, structural and wildland firefighting, and search and rescue
•    Development and implementation of employment standards for physically demanding occupations
