UAlberta-Yonsei Dual Doctoral Degree Program

The Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta and the Department of Sport Industry Studies at the Yonsei University in South Korea have partnered to create a dual-doctoral degree program. Outgoing Students

Outgoing students are classified as all students whose home institution is the University of Alberta and who are going to Yonsei University. Please note that to be considered as an outgoing student in the Dual Doctoral Degree Program, you must first be admitted into the PhD program in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta. For more information on the general admissions process, please click here.

Incoming Students

Incoming students are classified as all students whose home institution is Yonsei University and who are coming to the University of Alberta. In order to participate in this opportunity, students must first be admitted into a doctoral degree program at Yonsei University.

  • Estimated Cost, Tuition and Funding

    Students are responsible for covering all costs associated with enrollment in the dual degree program including tuition and fees, living expenses, airfare, and medical insurance. Outgoing students may be eligible for tuition reimbursement from Yonsei University. Please contact Dr. Justin Jeon from Yonsei University (jjeon@yonsei.ac.kr) for more information.

  • What are the deadlines?

    Outgoing students : February 1 for Fall term

                                 July 1 for Winter term

    Incoming students: February 1 for Fall term start (UofA Fall term: September 1 – December 31)

                                July 1 for Winter term start (UofA Winter term: January 1 – April 30)

  • Why participate?

    Students who participate in the Yonsei-Alberta Dual Doctoral Degree Program will have the opportunity to receive a doctoral degree from both the University of Alberta and Yonsei University. Students will also have the invaluable opportunity to live and study while immersed in a different culture.
