Our martial arts classes are meant to bring out the inner Bruce Lee out in our participants. We have a variety of classes to choose from whether you are a beginner or an expert!
A martial art rooted in 'Kenjutsu' or classical Japanese swordsmanship. Its movements are based on the combat techniques of Samurai warriors and, as such, 'Maai' or distance, timing, and precision are of the utmost importance. Enjoy the challenge of mental concentration, physical coordination, and the tactics of "combat". This class offers these challenges in a controlled and safe environment.
Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art form with its roots in slavery. It incorporates martial arts, music, dance and history. Capoeira originated from African slaves brought to Brazil from several regions of the world who shared their diverse cultural customs: dance, fighting techniques and rituals.
Filipino Martial Arts
Filipino martial artists are noted for their ability to fight with weapons or empty hands interchangeably. Weapons-training takes precedence because they give an edge in real fights, gears students to psychologically face armed opponents. Empty hands training is then taught as the stick is merely an extension of the hand. This class is designed for new students or participants with little to no Filipino Martial Arts experience.
Jiu Jitsu - Brazilian and Japanese
A highly effective form of self-defence regardless of age and size, which relies more heavily on skill and leverage than brute strength. Students are exposed to fundamentals and techniques: locks, chokes, holds and movement. We offer classes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well as classes in Japanese Jiu Jitsu.
Judo consists of throwing techniques, ground holds, choking and arm lock techniques, and teaches the use of controlling balance and body movement to defeat an opponent. Safety is paramount, and learning how to fall safely is an important first step.
Karate is designed to improve and strengthen the students body with challenging workouts and to enhance their awareness in self-defense! Students will learn kicks, punches, blocks, flexibility all along side some cardiovascular exercise.
The main focus of kickboxing is learning the technical aspects of striking. This really gives the student a great opportunity to work on their core training!
Mixed Martial Arts
The sport of Mixed Martial Arts has exploded in popularity in the past decade and with this fundamentals class we will look at the techniques and training methods that make it so dynamic and exciting! We offer classes on the fundamentals of Mixed Martial Arts.
Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do is a modern Korean martial art and Olympic sport practiced in over 160 countries. Known mainly for its dynamic, spectacular kicking techniques, TKD is also an excellent form of physical and mental exercise.
