BSc Psychology Major

A major in psychology requires the completion of a minimum of 12 psychology courses (★36), to a maximum of 16 (★48). The number of courses within this range that a student completes to fulfill the major requirements depends on the individual student’s choice of psychology courses as they progress through their path of study. Students selecting psychology as a major are required to complete the following:

  • PSYCO 104 - Basic Psychological Processes (★3)
  • PSYCO 105 - Individual and Social Behavior (★3)
  • ★6 from
    • PSYCO 258 - Cognitive Psychology
    • PSYCO 275 - Brain and Behavior
    • PSYCO 282 - Behavior Modification
  • ★6 from
    • PSYCO 223 - Lifespan Developmental Psychology
    • PSYCO 239 - Abnormal Psychology
    • PSYCO 241 - Social Psychology
  • At least ★6 in PSYCO at the 300-level or higher (minimum of ★3 from Science and ★3 from Arts)
  • At least ★6 in PSYCO at the 400-level or higher (minimum of ★3 from Science and ★3 from Arts)

Additional Information

Although it does not count toward the major, students must also take STAT 141 or STAT 151. Many senior PSYCO courses require STAT 141 or STAT 151 as a prerequisite, therefore, students must plan accordingly.
