Farm injury in Canada

Agriculture is one of the most dangerous industries in Canada, and yet most farmers don't have a safety plan for their operation.

Why is farm safety important? The majority of injuries are predictable, thus preventable. The impact of a farm injury or fatality can have a devastating emotional and financial burden to a farm operation.

Although 85 per cent of Canadian farmers believe that safety is a priority, only 9 per cent actually have a safety plan for their operation.

Each year, the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association and the Canada Federation of Agriculture deliver Canadian Agricultural Safety Week in the third week of March. This week raises awareness about the importance of farm safety, and provides information to producers about how to stay safe on their farm or ranch.
