Involving the public in research

Participatory research is a method of research that's often used by those in public health. It is an approach to researching communities that emphasizes participation and action by the communities themselves, whether it's asking children to draw pictures of tobacco use in their schools or asking seniors to take photos of infrastructure hazards in their neighbourhoods.

Jane Springett's research revolves around working with people, rather than conducting research on them, She has an eclectic and pragmatic approach to research methods, but with an interest in participatory methods, including visual methods and storytelling.
