Education

The Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging in the Faculty of Medicine offers world-class residency programs in Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Pediatric Radiology.

Residents join a well established, highly successful program in a stimulating and welcoming environment.

 Fellowship programs are offered in medical imaging specialties including:

  • Body Imaging
  • Cardiothoracic Imaging
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Musculoskeletal Radiology
  • Pediatric Radiology​
  • Neuroradiology
The department also offers master's of science and PhD degrees in a variety of radiology-related fields through the Medical Sciences Graduate Program of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Additional information about graduate programs is available in the University of Alberta Calendar.

The department is also dedicated to the education of undergraduate medical students.  We offer electives in both Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Please refer to the Electives catalogue for more information. 

Tech​​nologist training programs in radiography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound and magnetic resonance are available through Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).​​
