Virtual Assistant FAQs

"Vera," a new virtual assistant feature was implemented to enhance the self-service aspect of student services. The following FAQs will help answer any questions you may have about the project:

How do you use the virtual assistant?

The virtual assistant is fully conversational and designed to be intuitive. Users simply type in their question and Vera responds with the answer using existing content on the Registrar's Office and Undergraduate Admissions websites.

Will Vera be implemented University-wide?

At the moment, the virtual assistant will only be implemented on the Registrar's Office and Undergraduate Admissions websites to assist current and prospective students with applications, registration, requirements, exams, and records, among other topics.

What if Vera can't answer a question?

If the virtual assistant is unable to find the answer to a student's question, the request lands in an email queue that is monitored by members of the Student Connect Team.

Where did the name Vera come from?

The name Vera comes from the University of Alberta motto, Quaecumque Vera. We thought it was a good fit!

Who do I contact if I have questions about the project?
