FALLING WALLS VENTURE ALBERTA 2017

We are seeking outstanding science-based start-ups to present their breakthrough business to a jury of science, government and business representatives at Falling Walls Venture UAlberta on September 27, 2017. Science-based start-ups are "new companies founded by researchers and based on new research insights."

Win a trip to Berlin to compete in the international Venture finale
The Venture UAlberta winner wins a trip to the Venture finale in Berlin on November 8, where they could be named Science Start-Up of the Year by an international jury of business, government and science representatives. The Berlin Venture winner also presents their spin-off at the international Falling Walls Conference on Nov 9, attended by over 700 people including industry, venture capitalists, European government, the media and others.

Eligibility, deadline and application
To eligible you must be a UAlberta related science-based start-up or spin-off or companies that have licensed UAlberta licensed technology and or in some way affiliated with UAlberta (e.g., alumus). The application deadline is September 7, 2017. All finalists will be invited to a special bootcamp to hone their presentation skills via coaching, group training and practice.

  • Level of innovation—is it groundbreaking, does it represent a breakthrough?
  • Commercial potential—could the project change the market situation?
  • Social Impact—could this idea/product change the life of a large part of the world’s population?

Falling Walls Venture UAlberta is connected to the Falling Walls Lab UAlberta. Both are qualifying events for the international finale events held by Falling Walls organization in Berlin.
