Postdoctoral Office

Becoming a Postdoc

Postdoctoral Fellows (PDFs) are individuals who have completed their PhD, within the past five years or within 10 years of a MD, DDS or equivalent, who want to develop further expertise, experience and training in their chosen area of research.

At UAlberta, postdocs are a valued and vital part of our community, who make significant contributions to the University’s research enterprise. Postdocs are full time researchers who work under the supervision of a faculty member, and can often supervise graduate students in addition to their research duties.
Information on applying for or appointing a postdoc is provided below.

Applying
The first step in finding a PDF position is to locate a potential supervisor, faculty member, whose research interests match yours. Postdoctoral appointments are managed by individual faculty departments, and faculty members should be contacted directly to discuss, or apply to, potential postdoc opportunities.
The postdoc office does post current postdoc opportunities provided to us by various faculty departments.
The Postdoctoral Fellows Office does not accept applications nor are we involved in the hiring process.
