Get those steps in: Things to do around campus
Natasha Chan - 09 April 2021

The sun's out and it's time to explore. Here are a few ways to get out and about, all within walking distance of residence.
Satisfy your sweet tooth
Think local by visiting some of Edmonton's best dessert shops! Here are some of my favourite places that are either walking distance from campus or a short transit ride away:
- Made by Marcus
- Yelo’d Ice Cream and Bake Shop
- La Carraira Gelateria Cafe
- Cinnaholic
- Snowy Dessert
- Ohana Donuterie
- Cacao 70 Eatery
Enjoy a nature walk
Explore the river valley or visit the legislature building right across the river!
Do a coffee crawl
Take a stroll down Whyte Ave and visit some of my favourites:
- Remedy Cafe (also right on campus!)
- Transcend Coffee
- Eleanor and Laurent
- Block 1912
- ACE Coffee Roasters
- The WoodRack Cafe
- La Bosco Bakery and Cafe
Visit the Imagine Van Gogh exhibit
This amazing exhibit will be launching soon at the Edmonton EXPO Centre! Find out more.
Search for Fantastic Planet
Go out and find the 12-foot tall inflatable statues in downtown Edmonton from now until April 11! This 6 piece art installation is called “Fantastic Planet,” named after the 1973 French/Czech film of the same name.
Visit the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market
Here you will find a variety of locally grown and produced goods—you don’t want to miss out! Find more information about weekly vendors.
Check out the End of the World
Take a Lime/Bird Scooter and ride to this scenic viewpoint located right at 7433 Saskatchewan Drive.
