Alberta Stage 3 reopening: Safety expectations in residence

30 June 2021

Health and safety expectations in residence are changing
Residence Services closely monitors and follows recommended guidelines from Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta’s Public Health Response Team. Safety expectations are subject to change.

What has changed?

  1. Masks are not required but strongly encouraged in all residence spaces
  2. Eating is permitted in common lounges and kitchens
  3. Gatherings between current residents are permitted in indoor and outdoor residence spaces with social distancing (staying 2m apart) recommended
    Continue gathering outdoors whenever possible

What is staying the same?
To ensure the continued safety of yourself and the residence community, the following expectations remain in place until further notice:

  1. Non-resident guests are not permitted in residence
  2. Inform residence if you are required to isolate by emailing res.support@ualberta.ca
  3. Do not access any restricted areas, including residence gyms
Fitness facilities are available at the Van Vliet Complex

Keep your community safe
Continue to follow the guidelines for residents, practice good hygiene and monitor your health closely, and remember to respect other residents’ and staff’s decisions on what additional safety measures they take.

Roommates are encouraged to discuss these changes and how they may impact your living situation.
