Gathering rules in residence updated

11 February 2021

Public health measures to restrict the spread of COVID-19 have eased in Alberta and residence expectations on social gatherings have changed.

Indoor lounges and common spaces

Residents may return to using common lounges for social gatherings with their household or two close contacts. Capacity limits must not be exceeded.

  • Continue to follow all posted capacity limits in common areas
  • Always physically distance and wear a mask, even when with close contacts
  • Eating in lounges is prohibited

Who is my household?

Residents of Schäffer, PLH and International House
You are considered to live alone and are permitted TWO close contacts that must remain the same until restrictions are lifted. Close contacts from the same building may visit each other’s units or common areas and kitchens together.

Everyone else
Your household is your roommates in your unit/apartment. If you have no roommates, refer to the exceptions above.

No guests allowed

Guests are still not permitted to enter residence buildings. This includes any close contacts from outside your building.

Outdoor social gatherings

Up to 10 people maximum are now permitted to gather outdoors. Get outside, explore Edmonton and enjoy the great outdoors with your friends!

On-campus outdoor gatherings are not allowed without approval. Check out the Safety Measures General Directives webpage to learn more.
