Residence updates for new provincial COVID-19 measures

25 November 2020

The Government of Alberta has declared a state of public health emergency supported by enhanced public health restrictions.

Residences remain open and operational. Policies continue to be updated with the aim to provide you and other residents with the best and safest options for your communities.

Dining halls remain open to meal plan holders
The Lister and PLH dining halls remain open (whew!) with no change to current dining protocols at this time, including occupancy limits, table limits and physically distancing. Please keep using the red card/green card system to let staff know when a table is ready to be sanitized.

What does “no indoor social gatherings” mean?
At this time, common areas and shared kitchens remain open in residence. Continue to wear your mask, respect room occupancy limits and physically distance at all times. Just a reminder, no guests are allowed in residence, including residents from other buildings.

Can I have friends in my room?
Limit the number of people in your unit so that everyone can physically distance safely. This means only a couple of people from your residence building can be in your room at one time. Everyone needs to wear a mask at all times. Limiting the frequency and length of visits is recommended to minimize the risk of exposure.

The importance of staying connected
Social connections are important for our wellbeing. We may not be able to get together like we used to, but we can find ways to stay connected.

Doorway conversations have long been a part of residence. Walking together in the fresh (cold!) air provides engagement for our bodies, minds and souls. When you are out and about in public, remember that outdoor gatherings are now limited to 10 people.
