2SLGBTQ+ Students
Residence Services is committed to working with all students to meet their housing needs in an environment that values diversity and promotes dignity of all people. Gender-inclusive room assignments are available across campus to support students regardless of their sex, gender, gender identity or gender expression.
Gender-inclusive housing assignments may be especially important for:
- Students in the process of discovering their gender identity and/or engaged in a gender transition
- Students who identify outside of the male/female gender binary
- Students who identify as 2SLGBTQ+
- Students who feel more comfortable with a roommate of a different gender
Incoming students interested in a gender-inclusive room assignment should contact us directly by emailing housing@ualberta.ca for more information on residence types that may meet their specific needs and preferences.
Sexual and Gender diversity resources
OUTreach is one of UAlberta’s queer (LGBTQA*) social groups. They have weekly meetings (Tuesdays @ 5pm at the Heritage Lounge in Athabasca Hall), varied events, a Jasper trip in February, and they help organize the University of Alberta Pride Week in March. There is no cost to become a member - come out and socialize! All are welcome. For more info about the group, visit their website.
The Landing is a student space offering support for gender and sexual diversity. Gender and sexual diversity includes LGBTTQQPIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit, Queer, Questioning, Pansexual, Intersex, Asexual and more) communities and individuals, as well as their friends, family and loved ones.
