Inclusion and Accommodation
Living in residence already helps set students up for success but one size doesn’t fit all. Accommodations are alterations made to help ensure you feel comfortable and supported while living in residence and can be made at any point in the year.
MEDICAL AND NON-MEDICAL ACCOMMODATIONS
The Academic Success Centre facilitates campus support and accommodations for medical (mobility, vision, hearing, learning, physical, mental, etc.) and non-medical (religious beliefs, gender expression, etc.) protected grounds. If you require a service or support animal, contact them as soon as possible for an assessment as it can take 1-2 months to process.

Residents experiencing an acute health situation (e.g. broken leg) are encouraged to contact Residence Services so our team can review building safety and possibilities for temporary accommodation. This may result in a referral to the Academic Success Centre for assistance.
ALLERGIES OR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS
For students on a meal plan, our dining hall displays labels for various different dietary needs, such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal. If you have a serious food allergy or specific dietary restrictions, please contact our registered dietitian with your question or to book a consultation.
GENDER INCLUSIVE ROOM ASSIGNMENT
Residence Services is committed to working with all students to meet their housing needs in an environment that values diversity and promotes dignity of all people. Incoming students interested in a gender inclusive room assignment should contact us directly for more information on residence types that may meet their specific needs and preferences.
INDIGENOUS CEREMONY (SMUDGING)
Residents may perform ceremony in their rooms and other designated spaces in residence. Since ceremony often produces smoke, it is recommended to let your roommate(s) know ahead of time. Please refer to the University's Ceremony at the U of A page for more information.
