Life in residence: Connections, social and academic support

Residence community supports

Every residence community has highly trained student staff (Residence Assistants) living within the community. Residence Assistants (RAs) provide individual resident support and community building activities, while academics in residence and peer tutors provide academic support for your studies.

24/7 on-call support is always available from our professional staff.

Expedition:Connect

Everyone in residence is automatically registered in Expedition: Connect—our online hub for all things residence. Connect with your community online, keep up to date with upcoming programs and events and access online orientation content, all through Expedition:Connect.

Academic cohorts and interest groups

Residence continues to support student academic and personal success through our cohort community programs. Join a cohort whose members share your interests, your faculty and much more!

Programs and activities are led by our academics in residence, peer leaders and specialists.

Visit our Living Learning Community webpage for more information.

Second chance at a first-year residence experience

Lister Residence is open to select second year residents (in addition to first year students and student leaders) so you can enjoy your second year of university with a supported, first year residence experience in residence halls.

Returning second year residents

If you were a first year student living in residence this year, you will be prioritized for Schäffer Hall in Fall 2021 if you apply by June 1. You can also choose from any of our other upper year residence buildings on campus.

Delayed residents

Did you delay your arrival to residence for your first year, but signed up for Expedition:Connect? If so, your spot in residence has been saved for you! You will be prioritized for remaining spaces in Schäffer Hall (through a lottery system). A community in another tower (Henday Hall, Mackenzie Hall or Thelma Chalifoux) will also be made available for you to have a first year experience in your second year of university. You would have received an email from Residence Services instructing you how you can indicate your preferences.

Safety

Health and safety in residence
